Emmy Awards Opening – Glee Club Style

August 31st, 2010 | Posted by

I’m not a fan of the show Glee, but I can appreciate when things are well done… and this video was very well done.  It also featured some cameos from some of my favorite actors in roles that you don’t normally see them play.  For example, watching Don Draper dance with Betty White.  If this were Mad Men, Don Draper would be doing a lot more than dancing… he’d be making a drunken pass at poor Betty.

The premise of this video is that Jimmy Fallon runs into the cast of Glee before the Emmy’s.  He asks if they are coming to the show, but they can’t afford tickets to get in.  So, Jimmy decides to help them ‘Glee’ their way in for a cash prize that meets the price of admission.

They need to recruit more members in their club in order to have the proper number of competitors, and that’s where Tina Fey, Jon Hamm (Don Draper), Jane Lynch, Hurley from Lost and Joel McHale come to save the day.

Their song?  Born to Run by Bruce Springstein.   Watch the video to see a very well done homage to the Boss, and some good quality Glee club action.

Mustaches: Tom Selleck vs. Burt Reynolds

March 16th, 2010 | Posted by

I love Mustaches.  My uncles sport them, the 70′s, 80′s and 90′s were filled with them, and they just throw out a tremendous vibe to the ladies.  I love them so much that I have spent $30 on a domain name dedicated to Saved By the Bell characters and mustaches over the years (savedbythestache.com).  That might be TMI, but I don’t care, it’s what I do.

Jimmy Fallon’s show also loves stache’s to the point that they have a running segment dedicated to them. In this clip, we have a stache off with Burt Reynolds from the 70′s and Tom Selleck from the 80′s.  In this clip a great premise is made a funny reality, Fallon laughs at his own jokes too much, and there are some life sized bristles above the upper lip that make a generation proud.

Stache’ on, America!!

On an unrelated/related note, I’m pretty sure that Selleckwaterfallsandwich.com stole one of my half baked ideas, but I still credit them for being pioneers!

Zack Morris on Jimmy Fallon – Saved by the Bell

Zack Morris Phone

Zack Morris Phone

Timeout.  What the heck do you mean Zack Morris is on Jimmy Fallon’s talk show?  He’s a TV charactor and not an actual person.  Or is he???

This video represents all that is good in the world.  Basically, it involves the actor who played Zack Morris in my favorite TV show of all time, going on stage and pretending to be his character, about 15 years after the show was taken off the air.  Gotta hand it to Mark-Paul Gosselaar for having such a great sense of humor about his iconic character that pretty much defined a generation of kids (present company included).

During this clip, he pulled out all of the stops that we have become accustomed to on Saved by the Bell.  He called a “time out” in the show and everyone around him froze in place while he explained the situation.  He took a phone call from his good friend Jessie Spano on his ginormous phone.   He used to be married to Jimmy even called him Preppie!

Some Douche Pretending to be Zack Morris

At the very end, we are treated to the band Zack Attack playing their hit song, Friends Forever.   I’m not going to lie, I am a pretty big fan of the band Zack Attack.  In fact, I have a shirt from their first world tour!

I really must say that I enjoyed this clip.  Gotta hand it to Fallon for fighting being not funny for long enough to let Zack speak his peace.  I see no reason for this trend to stop any time soon!
