Packers Fan Announces He Will Return To Drinking For Another Season

February 12th, 2010 | Posted by Jeff

Is it a stereotype when it’s true?  This is literally exactly how Green Bay Packers fans are!  I should know, since many of the people who visit this site are “Packer Backers”.  I don’t really get the appeal of the Packers, but then again, I carry the weight of the tortured soul of a Minnesota Vikings fan.

High Five the Super Bowl

February 8th, 2010 | Posted by Jeff

If there are two things that I like more than anything else, it’s high fives and sports. If you wanted to add a third thing into the fold, it would be “mugging” for the camera. This video has all of this and more.  Basically, two awesome dudes (more awesome than you and me combined) got paid to have a camera follow them around the Super Bowl festivities while high-fived each other.  Sounds like a dream job to me.

There are some great cameos in this video… almost too many to count.   Kim Kardashian, Tiki Barber, the Colts, the Saints, Don Johnson and Pamela Anderson to name a few.

Just watch it… and don’t take my word for it either!  This was recommended to me by not one, but TWO Amandas!

You Play to Win the Game – NFL Coaches Rap

January 11th, 2010 | Posted by Jeff

I have posted videos of athletes and coaches “breaking down” at press conferences in the past.  You might remember Jim Mora vs. Allen Iverson or the Breakdowns Auto Tune Medley.  If you liked those videos, you’ll surely like this one, because it features much of the same.

This video came from the Inside the NFL show and centers around Herm Edwards famous “you play to win the game” breakdown when he coached the Jets, but also features many famous coaches like Jim Mora, Dennis Green and Iron Mike Ditka.

If you are into NFL Football, this is a “must watch” video.  If you aren’t really into sports, then this probably won’t be as funny for you.

I am Tiger Woods – Funny or Die

December 17th, 2009 | Posted by Jeff

Here is a decent video making fun of Tiger Woods starring the guy from NBC’s Community.  It starts off a little slow and gets fairly creepy at the end… sort of like the whole Tiger Woods saga did…

Sports Meltdown Auto Tuned Medley

June 25th, 2009 | Posted by Jeff

I’ve already posted the Allen Iverson Meltdown vs. Jim Mora Meltdown video, and now I’m going to take things one step further.  This amazing video takes all sports meltdowns over the past several years and mashes them into one… all in the form of a music video.  The voices are blended together using the “auto tune” method that has become so popular in hip hop music (think T-Pain and Kanye West).

If you follow sports at all, you should find this video to be amazingly well done!

Meltdowns included:

  • Allen Iverson
  • Jim Mora
  • Denny Green (THEY ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE)
  • Oklahoma State Football Coach (I’m a man, I’m 40!)
  • Joe Namath trying to Kiss Suzy Colber
  • Terrell Owens

We sittin here, I’m supposed to be a franchise player, and we in here talking bout PRACTICE?!?  Not a game!  Practice!

Gymnast Shawn Johnson Put To Sleep After Breaking Leg – The Onion

June 19th, 2009 | Posted by Jeff

Kudos to the Onion once again for their ability to make anything funny.  In this video, they talk about Olympic Gymnast Shawn Johnson as if she is a horse.  A horse who just broke her leg and had to be euthanized.

Some classic lines from her “parents” in this video, talking about how since she couldn’t compete in Gymnastics anymore, or if she did compete, she wouldn’t be the same, they had to put her down.   They didn’t even get a chance to breed her!  However, they will raise other gymnasts, and the next one will be named “Spirit of Shawn.”  I can’t wait to see her compete in the 2024 Summer games!

Norm McDonald Hosts the 1998 ESPY’s

April 4th, 2009 | Posted by Jeff

You don’t hear much about Norm McDonald anymore, and I can’t remember the last time I saw him on TV, but he was one of the funnier comedians to emerge from the 1990’s.   More than just about anyone, it seems to me as if Norm is a polarizing comedian and many people either seem to love him or hate him.  I haven’t talked to many people who were in the middle in their opinions.  Personally, I think he’s great!  Solid and quick wit, funny voice and good delivery.

The video above has been making its way around the various sports blogs I follow today.  In the video, Norm is hosting the 1998 ESPN ESPY awards, and this video is of his monologue.  He does a good job of making fun of just about everyone, and the crowd actually seems to be laughing most of the time.  Really, the only part that pissed off the fans was at the end, when he makes fun of Charles Woodson (who had recently won the Heisman trophy) and told him not to murder a waiter and his ex wife.  That didn’t go over very well with the crowd!  Needless to say, Norm never hosted the ESPY’s again.

Lots of good jokes/one liners from Norm in this clip, including:

“I like Kickboxing because it combines the style and grace of boxing… with KICKING.”

“We have to get back to what made us a championship team: Strippers and Crack”

“There was an east German woman and I swear, you could see the outline of her entire penis”

“Boomer replaced Frank Gifford on Monday Night Football.  Frank told reporters that this would allow him to spend more time with his wife and children.  Then he broke down and cried for 45 minutes.”

“Charles Woodson became the first defensive player to win a Heisman.  That is something they can never take away from you.  Unless, of course, you kill your wife and a waiter.”

Bat Fight – It’s Anyone’s Game – Will Ferrell on Funny or Die

March 10th, 2009 | Posted by Jeff

The latest Will Ferrell video from Funny or Die. I will link to any video that features Will Ferrell singing for 80% of the time, and he gets his ass kicked the other 20%. More than anything, I think that this video represents a big advancement in the career of Will Ferrell. It seems like his last several movies have been so formulaic that they forget about being funny through witty dialogue, and try to be funny by putting Will Ferrell into a formula.

Basically, the formula is this: Will Ferrell is a very polarized character with a hobby/sport that he’s not particularly good at, but loves to play, he has some kind of funny hair style, and all jokes revolve around the hobby/sport/hairstyle. It started with Talledega Nights with NASCAR/Sideburns, went to the Ice Skating movie, and peaked with the awful Semi-Pro where he was a 70’s ABA basketball player with a big fro.

All of these ideas sound hilarious on paper. Will Ferrell is funny enough where he can pretty much do anything on camera and it’ll be funny. However, the comedy wears off a lot more quickly than the duration of a feature film, and most of his fan-base has grown tired of wasting their time on seeing these movies in the theater.

Enter Funny or Die, an online sketch comedy site where Will can satisfy his urge to create funny characters who fit a funny profile (in this case, long white hair, sunglasses, and a hobby of fighting with baseball bats). Interestingly enough, this is the exact same character Ferrell had played on the previous week’s episode of Eastbound and Down. We’ll call it a 2 for 1, because both were pretty funny in small doses.

Now that I’m done with my commentary on Will Ferrell’s career, the real star of this sketch is Will’s singing. Although not a strong singer, Will pours his heart out on this track, and does a pretty good job of getting his song into your head (I found myself singing it the entire weekend). For anyone interested in the lyrics of the song, here’s what I was able to get out of it (gave up after a few listens):

Something’s in the air, feeling uptight
It’s the right mood for a
BAT FIGHT

Bat Fight – It’s anyone’s game
Bat Fight – A Test of Wills
Bat Fight – Who’s gonna win?
Bat Fight – You Never Know Who!
Looking for a sign of weekness
Totally Even, Anyone can Win
Athletic Prowess, let’s Begin

Bat Fight – A Gentleman’s Game
Bat Fight – You know the name
Bat Fight – Tensions are High
Bat Fight – An Eye for An Eye
Bat Fight – Feeling So Good
Bat Fight – Connecting with the Wooooooddddd!

Circling and Circling and Circling and Circling

Also, great job from the guy who plays Darryl Philbin on the Office for becoming a major “that guy” in all kinds of comedy movies. You are worthy of a link to your IMDB page, Craig Robinson.

Thanks to Aaron for the assist.

Allen Iverson vs. Jim Mora (Sports)

September 23rd, 2008 | Posted by Jeff

Two of the most memorable breakdowns in the history of sports press conferences merged into one video.  Pretty well done, although it’s sort of short and the credits at the beginning and end are a little cheesy.

I have always loved the Jim Mora “Playoffs” rant where he absolutely broke down several years ago during a press conference while he was coaching the Colts.  In fact, I enjoy it to the point that I can rarely say the word “playoffs” anymore without laughing or imitating Jim Mora.

The Allen Iverson portion of this video is also a classic where he addresses criticism that he misses too many practices. You can clearly tell from his tone how he feels about practice!

My favorite line:

“Practice” and/or “Playoffs!”
