Funny Video Search

Like most everyone in Funny Video Search’s target demographic, I was a huge fan of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Aire. The theme song is one of the most well known songs by all people currently aged 25-35. So when I stumbled upon this video, the gangster version of the theme song, I thought it was a wonderful idea, but I wasn’t sure of whether the execution would do the original theme justice.

It turns out that the folks at College Humor did a good job of taking the wholesome Will Smith and turning his song into a gangsta rap version of the Fresh Prince of Belaire theme song.  I’m not sure that the current Will Smith would approve, but he’s gotta have a sense of humor about it!  Who would have thought that the Fresh Prince would be the highest grossing movie star for the past 10 years?   It’s amazing how he and Leonardo Dicaprio (or Luke Brower from Growing Pains) are such successful big screen actors with sitcom beginnings.

I was a little surprised by the pace of the music at first, because it’s more of a 2000’s gangsta rap sound than a late 80’s / early 90’s sound, but after watching the video, I think it works pretty well.  Better than I could do, that’s for sure.

One random note is that I’m pretty sure the guy who plays Uncle Phil was the same guy who played Suge Knight in the recently released movie Notorious.  Discuss.

"OMG - I AM SUCH A TOOL!"

Came across this today and I laughed out loud.  I have seen the commercial for the “Snuggie” blanket several times and every time I see it I get pissed off at this stupid ass product.  It is like a open ended muu-muu for morbidly obese and/or extremely lazy people.

The block colors of gross red, ugly blue and hideous light blue make this thing extremely unflattering.  It’s basically a back-less wizard robe.  Only if it were worn by the worst wizard in the history of wizardry.  Or the gayest.  I wouldn’t even be afraid of this wizard.  I’d taunt him with Hogwart’s jokes and then sneak attack him from the wide open back part of his stupid snuggie dress.  Then I would belittle him for wearing a snuggie!

Even better is the fact that my friend Lashara actually bought a pair of Snuggies for her and my girlfriend as a joke.  Great joke Lashara!  Glad that your purchasing kept on funding these retarded commercials! Your two snuggie purchases lead to 2-4 more crappy commercial viewings that made me want to wash my eyes out with bleach.

Fortunately for us, someone in YouTube land created a video making fun of this retarded product, and I was compelled to post.  Enjoy!

Recently, some of my friends from high school have been posting old school pictures on Facebook of our younger days. While they are entertaining, it also shows me what a bunch of dirty wanna-be rockers we all used to be. In talking to one of my friends, we reminisced about the stupid games we would play when we were drunk. One of these games was to concoct shots of various ingredients that the other person would have to drink. Now mind you, there were rules… no bodily fluids, and nothing that could potentially kill you- (gas, drano, etc.) Also, there had to be at least one form of alcohol in the shot- which would kill off anything else that might be in the mix (we were drunk, go with it). Needless to say, the purpose of the game was to have the other player suffer as much as possible. During one particularly grueling competition, mouths burning from various hot sauce+whatever shots, one friend of mine decided to lay down the shot to end all shots… pickle juice, tequila, and (without our knowledge) ipecac… and a scene much like this ensued…

I love the Onion! Nothing better than a joke newspaper writing awesome headlines that make me laugh at least once a week.  Over the past few years, they have also gradually added video to their site and some of the videos they produce are also quite good!

Yesterday they released a fake news story in honor of the MacWorld expo that is happening this week.  Excellent timing and a very well done joke news story about a fictitious new product by Apple.  They do a great job of playing up the biases that many people have toward Apple’s innovations (i.e. everything they put out is better than everything else) and also touch on the fact that often “easy to use” and “practical” are two different things.
